Do you find yourself drooling over beautiful photos of pickles and jams on pinterest? ๐Ÿฅ’๐Ÿฅซ

Have you been impressed by the home canning skills of your fellow Homemade ladies?๐Ÿ˜‹

Well the truth is; it’s actually really easy to do!

And this month’s topic is a great way to get more healthy, whole ingredients into your pantry:

Preservation and Canning!

You’ll learn everything you need to know, whether you’re a beginner or an experienced canner looking for some fresh tips and recipes.

Just scroll down to see some of the exciting techniques you’ll be learning and exploring this month.

Here’s just a couple techniques you’ll get to try:

โœ…(1) Preservation in Oil: Olive oil is a natural preservative that can help you store the flavors and nutrients of fresh produce! By creating a seal over your ingredients, it prevents oxidation and spoilage, and aids your body in absorbing more vitamins.

โœ…(2) Fermentation: Fermentation is one of the best ways to preserve ingredients and nourish your gut health. Foods that have been fermented are rich in probiotics, and can aid in better digestion and stronger immunity.

โœ…(3) Canning: By learning this process for yourself, you’ll be able to keep the nourishment of fresh fruits and vegetables year-long, and avoid added preservatives canned items from the store contain.

You’ll get to practice and master each of these techniques, and a few more, including a healthy twist on making jam! ๐Ÿ“๐Ÿ‡๐Ÿ’

Here’s some of this month’s recipe highlights:

Zesty Pickled Green Beans

By pickling your green beans you’ll preserve all their vitamin C, dietary fiber, folate, and vitamin K. This ensures your heart health, brain function, and immune system will be supported all year long.

The fermentation process adds even more nutritional benefits by building up good bacteria, called probiotics. These can help lower inflammation, resolve skin and digestive issues, and even curb sugar spikes.

Italian-style Tomatoes Preserved in Oil

Tomatoes are rich in potassium, folate, and Vitamin K and can help lower blood pressure, decrease bloating, and prevent osteoporosis- but these benefits and nutrients start to drop off once the summer months end.

Many tomatoes you find at the grocery store during the off season have much lower nutrient levels, and they taste like it! By packing seasonal, fresh tomatoes in oil, you can preserve all their flavor and health benefits right at home.

Caramelized Pineapple Salsa

Pineapples are loaded with antioxidants, which can help lower levels of inflammation and support metabolism. Pineapple is great for improving digestion, hormonal health, and overall mindset; thanks to an all-important enzyme, bromelain!

By roasting the pineapple, we bring out its natural sweetness and intensify the flavors through browning. Both these natural sugars and the high levels of acidity, make for a flavor-packed salsa that is perfect for storing.
