Here’s some of this month’s recipe highlights:
In our homemade version we make a few simple swaps to create a well-rounded breakfast from just five whole ingredients. By switching from basic white bread we add extra minerals and vitamins right away and decrease the amount of refined sugars and flours in our dish.
For toppings, we suggest naturally sweet banana slices, yogurt for protein, and walnuts for healthy fats to support the brain and heart. Cinnamon boosts metabolism and the flavor of sweetness so you can use less honey but still enjoy every bite to the maximum!
Healthier Skillet Huevos Rancheros
This classic combination of corn tortillas, beans, salsa, and eggs makes for a well-rounded meal that will give you sustainable energy, stronger immunity, and more balanced blood sugar levels.
By learning to make this dish at home you can include lots of fresh produce, and reduce the amount of sodium and saturated fat levels, which can help improve cardiovascular numbers and reduce the risk of heart attack or stroke.
Lentils make for a powerhouse breakfast that is easy on digestion and long on energy and fullness! Just half a cup of cooked split red lentils can help you start your day with 9 grams of protein and plenty of potassium, zinc, and iron!
These magic beans also come with plenty of fiber and folate to keep the digestive tract running smooth and the nervous system supported. Lentils make a wonderful canvas for any and all vegetables, and can be topped with an egg for extra protein and omega 3s.
