Slow Cooked Beef Brisket and Onions
Beef brisket is a great lean cut that is low in both saturated and trans fats, two things to avoid when managing or preventing diabetes. A fatty acids contained in beef, linoleic acid, may also help prevent diabetes, high cholesterol and cancer cell growth.
Antioxidant packed mushrooms and our brisket both provide vitamin B, helpful for improved blood sugar and cholesterol control. Onion also help with blood sugar control, and have been shown to reduce fasting blood sugars levels for up to four hours.
Almond Crusted Baked Salmon
Salmon as we all know is famed for its omega 3s, and this healthy fat is ideal for boosting heart health and helping control body weight and blood sugars. This protein can reduce inflammation and sugar spikes by slowing down the absorption of carbohydrates.
By using almond meal for the crust, we add into the healthy fats found here, as well as the protein; while keeping the refined carbohydrates to a minimum. Almonds are especially useful when looking to reduce the rise in glucose and insulin after meals.
Almond and Fig Quick Bread
In this recipe we’ve come up with a combination of natural sweeteners, high fiber and protein rich ingredients, all of which may help decrease sugar spikes. Hemp seeds, eggs, buttermilk and almonds will provide protein in our bread, also slowing digestion.
Almonds are wonderfully beneficial, as they have been shown to reduce the rise in glucose and insulin after meals. That in conjunction with the cinnamon can help to lower insulin resistance and prevent those sugar spikes and crashes.
