Peggy was already a good cook, but thought it’d be fun to take Homemade cooking classes with her husband. The results are in: 10 special date nights and a husband who now cooks!
MEET PEGGY…
Peggy and her husband joined Homemade after having a good time at a introductory class. Although she was already a good cook, Peggy still learned some valuable tips and increased her health awareness of whole foods. Best of all, she ended up with 10 special date nights with her husband (who now does some of the home cooking).
WHAT MOTIVATED YOU TO TAKE THE CLASS?
I wanted a fun date night with my husband. We would easily spend $100 to go out and eat, so we checked Homemade out, had a good time, and signed up. We got to have a fun time together and eat some good food. I found out my husband was keenly interested and it really helped him get more involved in the kitchen at home!
FAVORITE RECIPES AND TIPS?
The kale and wild rice salad was delicious, and how you rub it with your fingers was a great trick. I know how to cook, but I liked the subtle tips and learnings like how to use different oils and agave nectar or using a hint of lemon in the yogurt – all these little things make a big difference.
BEST ABOUT THE CLASS?
I really liked participating with everyone; it was fun. I also loved hearing about the nutritional aspects of the ingredients, since anything that can help with my heart condition is really valuable to hear.
ADVICE TO OTHERS LEARNING TO COOK?
If you want to mitigate some health (heart) issues, like I do, you need to buy real food and prepare it yourself. You shouldn’t eat processed foods. It takes time, but it makes a difference. Getting the food kits from Homemade can help!
ANY CHANGE AFTER TAKING THE CLASSES?
My husband made granola! He said, “It was amazing! And I found everything in the cabinet!” He also pulled out a recipe and roasted some food. He has a learning curve of cooking at home, but he picked up some stuff cooking together at Homemade and that was good!
ARE YOU TAKING THE CLASS AGAIN?
I will if my husband goes! The freshness and newness, in a relationship of over 30 years, was good. It’s a great date night!
