This dessert is fantastic and so very easy to make. I used a Lindt Dark Chocolate bar, 85%. I made about 18 to take to family gathering. I ate one to try it out, wow, so rich, I don’t think I could eat more at one sitting. Thanks for such a healthy treat.

Do you have to use Medjool dates? I found some dates at Aldi’s that I would like to use. They are Southern Grove California Pitted Dates and listed under ingredients it says Dates Whole. Can I use these or where to you get Medjool dates?

Hello Joann! That is a wonderful question. You do not have to use Medjool dates. Medjool dates are a specific variety that is normally grown in the Arizona region of the US. This type tends to be the most popular with more of a caramel flavor in comparison to other varieties. Medjool dates can be found at most major retail grocery stores or online. You can use the California-grown ones as a substitute. The nutritional profile will be very similar to the Medjool variety and the flavor will still be sweet enough to create this delicious recipe! We hope you enjoy it. Warmly, Katy
